Five years ago when I was at university, I always had plenty of opportunity to fit in time at the gym. Starting full-time work as a junior doctor meant that I was time-poor, constantly tired and found the motivation to exercise had evaporated. The result was weight gain, increasing fatigue and stress. In the face of specialist exams – I decided that I really needed to change my ways.
I have worked out with trainers before and have had a range of experiences from excellent to uninspiring. I had a previous bad run with an inexperienced trainer at a multi-national gym chain, and I was keen to avoid a repeat of that. I set out looking for someone who had done more than a six week course (ideally a university based education), someone who had experience in nutrition, someone who wasn't going to have me just lifting weights to the exclusion of real increases in fitness, someone who lived what they preached, someone who was flexible enough to accommodate my erratic working hours. I came across Peak Physique on the internet and was impressed by the fact that Brad Sheppard had maintained a strong business and crew of trainers over many years. I was also impressed that he had a variety of fitness experience from weight lifting to triathalons. After a brief exchange of emails I met Brad and he recommended one of his trainers, Jared. Over the last 3 months I have been very happy. Jared fits all the criteria and I have been really happy and surprised with the results. I have been coaxed, encouraged, and more recently 'threatened' into running faster, increasing intensity, doing more reps, and lifting more weights. I have remained injury free and have avoided the excessive aches and pains of over-training. Despite my reluctance to improve my diet – I am seeing the changes that we all want to see. My body fat is dropping, I have more muscle mass, my waist size is dropping, I have more energy and I am probably the fittest I have been in 10 years. I remain a work in progress – I still need to lose more weight, but more than that I am looking forward to feeling fitter and stronger than ever. All thanks to Jared's hard work. Dr James Johnson From what I observe about all the employees of Peak Physique it is a team culture, a group synergy. They seem to be cut from the same cloth in terms of physical fitness, personality and style. They are all warm and welcoming around the gym even though they may not be training you. This obviously comes from a leadership style that empowers the team and inspires them as individuals. With my busy and unpredictable lifestyle, Jared provides me with the flexibility I require to enable me to “fit” in my training regime. This I appreciate ever so greatly. I have a job that is demanding and goes through peaks and troughs, and at the same time I like to retain a level of fitness, and my sanity. Having this flexibility is so refreshing and a point of difference for Peak Physique over other trainers. I truly value this. Jared appears wise beyond his years. He has a delightful nature and a way to push me that doesn’t require loud chanting. His methods and his training style get the very best out of me. He obviously knows how to create programs to get the best out of an individual and to get the best results for an individual. I always thoroughly look forward to and enjoy my sessions.
