Stressed Out?
Stressed Out?
There is no doubt about it, already one-quarter of 2007 has passed and Easter is just a few days away! As you seek to clear your in-trays in the office and in-boxes on your laptop, you can feel that the pressure is mounting up! There seem to be so many tasks that you need to complete before you knock off next Thursday – but so little time to do them in!
At times, everyone’s life will be out of balance. In order to realise our goals some sacrifice will be necessary. As Stephen Covey put it; “It’s easy to say NO, when there is a deeper YES burning inside”, however sometimes that deeper YES can be business tasks, meetings and reports and these can often be at the expense of Family, friends or you own health.
You need to identify times when your body is requiring you to be “switched on”, and respect the down times so your body can recuperate. Too much adrenaline can lead to stress and anxiety!
Give yourself an honest and realistic evaluation of the tasks that are possible between now and the next week and prioritise your time so that you can settle into your well earned Easter break and actually enjoy it.
Consider the advice to get you through to Easter Stress-free:
1) Make sure that you continue to exercise. When you do not exercise, you do not expend as many calories, and you will not sleep as well at night.
2) Never skip meals. When you do not eat, it sends a message to your body to shut down your metabolism, this in tun make you feel very sluggish
3) Place yourself as a priority over Easter and consider gaining some real down-time. If you verbally let your loved ones know that you need a good rest, they will understand much better.
When you relax and recharge your body and mind, you will come back a lot stronger and much more productive.
